Rock-solid Architecture: Nature's Volcanic Windows

Sometimes geology plays architect better than humans ever could. This weathered volcanic rock formation in 'Inferno Valley' has carved itself a perfect window frame, complete with Mediterranean vegetation as interior decorating. The porous volcanic stone - courtesy of Vesuvius' ancient tantrums - weathers into these fantastic sculptural forms that would make any modernist architect jealous. Pine trees cling to impossible perches while hardy shrubs colonize every crack and crevice. Shot with the RX100M7 at 78mm, f/5.6 - the longer focal length compressed these geological layers into a natural monument that's been millions of years in the making.
