Foreword to the Future: Vintage Computing Wisdom

Found myself reading the foreword of that 1981 CBM programming book - pure nostalgia in German! L. Oswald's introduction promises 'leistungsfähige Programme' for both serious users and weekend warriors wanting some computer-based fun. Love how they casually mention avoiding PEEK and POKE commands for better compatibility across CBM and PET systems. Written in Holzkirchen during spring 1981, this preface captures that optimistic early computing era when programming books actually wished you 'viel Spaß und Erfolg.' Shot this page spread with my Nikon D70 because sometimes the real treasure isn't the flashy cover art, but the humble words that welcomed nerds into the programming world four decades ago.
